If the only sure way to avoid pain

Is to never have been born,

And you are reading this 

(Being past the point of making that decision),

To you I say:

Keep your eyes open,

Enjoy what you are able,

And push on through.

I was well past 50 by the time anyone asked why I never wore shoes aren’t you afraid you’ll step on something yes I replied but more afraid I’ll never step on anything.

A pair of gloves, borrowed. 

A cigarette. 

A layer of ice. 

A layer of roots. 

A layer of clay. 

Sand. 

A makeshift monument.
